Garuda Indonesia officially inaugurated its new Beijing-Denpasar route on Tuesday as part of efforts to strengthen its flight network, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
At the ceremony at Ngurah RaiInternational Airport, Garuda Indonesia president director Arif Wibowo said
that China was now one of the most important markets for the airline, with
tourist potential reaching up to 100 million people.
"In our efforts to tap into
Chinese market potential, we will also increase our capacity between China and
Indonesia through chartered flights from several cities in China to Denpasar
and Manado during the coming Chinese New Year," added Arif.
Cities covered by these chartered
flight services in February and July this year include Chengdu, Chong Qin,
Ningbo, Kunming, Junan, Harbin, Xian, Shenyang and Chengzhou.
Garuda's new Beijing-Denpasar route
will be plied three times a week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday using an
Airbus A330-200 that can accommodate 222 passengers consisting of 36
business-class and 186 economy-class seats.
With this new route addition, GarudaIndonesia now offers direct flights to and from Beijing seven times per week
from Denpasar and Jakarta. As well as Beijing, the carrier also provides
services to Shanghai and Guangzhou.
