Boko parks reopen to public
Achmad Muchlis from PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko, said, however, that people were only allowed to visit the temples’ park areas.
He said the ongoing cleaning process meant the main attractions, the temples, remained closed to the public. He said that the temple areas would be opened as soon as the Yogyakarta Cultural Heritage Conservation Center (BPCB) and Borobudur Conservation Agency (BKB) finished the clean-up process.
Wahyu Astuti of BPCB Yogyakarta branch had earlier said the Prambanan clean-up would take approximately two months.
“We have also cleaned other temples in 27 locations,” she said.
Head of BKB Marsis Sutopo said the agency had already completed cleaning in Mendut and Pawon temples but needed 10 more days to finish cleaning Borobudur temple.
