Balinese Welcoming Gate Called Candi Bentar

When I come to Bali I wonderful with Balinese culture, I was see a beautiful gate with unique architectures in every temples in Bali, I was asked our tour guide about that. Made astawa as my tour guide was said that’s building namely Candi Bentar. Candi Bertar (split Gate) is arch shape building term for two similar buildings and unvarying but a mirror symmetry that restricts the left and right of the entrance. the temple has not roof liaison briefly at the top’ so that the two sides apart perfectly, and only connected the bottom by the stairs.
The Building is commonly called ” Split Gate” because of its shape as if the temple resembles a perfectly halved. This type of gate building especially prevalent in Java, Bali, an Lombok island. Building like this alleged split gate fist appeared in the Majapahit era. At the temple or Puri”palace” Bali layout zone rules, either Candi Benter or Koro Agung is an integral architectural design. Candi Bentar gateway to the outer environment that limit out side the temple are with Nista Mandala “jaba Pisan” outer zone of the temple complex, while the Kori Agung used as the gate in the environment in the temple and is used to limit madya mandala zone (jaba tengah) eith the utama mandala (jeroan) as an holiest area of Bali’s temple. It can be concluded that both the temple as well as a place to live,Candi Bentar used for outer environment, while Kori Agung for the environment in the temple.

The Uniques Things of Balinese Batik

Bali-Batiks
The Balinese Batik provides showing another venue the artistic excellence of the Balinese people. Their beautiful designs, inspired by religious mythologies, spread throughout the world. Originally stimulated by Javanese motifs, dominated by wayang and other mythological characters, contemporary batik artists has also experienced artistic development that parallels that of paintings. Modern batik artists express themselves through various subjects, from objects of nature such as birds or fish to daily activities such as cremation ( ngaben ) procession or tourist attractions as well as religious and mythological stories, accompanied by modern interpretation.
Ikat and Double Ikat are two amazing techniques that the Balinese have perfected. A piece of Ikat cloth is woven in such a way that the ink is ‘tied’ in one of the two threads. A Double Ikat recursively repeats this technique both threads contain ink. The ink will bleed to its neihboring area, and the result is a piece of cloth with distinctive, subtle patterns.
Tenganan Village is well known for its superb double ikat work. A good piece of double ikat may take months to complete, and it usually belongs to the family heirloom. Certain patterns, such as the black and white, checkered, double ikat are considered to have protective powers against the evil spirits. Thus, they are used a lot to cover or to dress statues that guard the entrance to a temple or sacred masks like Barong.

To get to the holy spring, first I had to pass through the outside part of the temple. Here there are many statues that decorated by garden of lush tropical plants. In the middle of the garden there are path that lead me to ‘Candi Bentar’, which is the entrance to the temple. After passed the entrance, finally I was arrived at the middle part of the temple.
